Emily + Matthew

How did you meet?

We met in the queue to a nightclub called Infernos in South West London. Matt found me inside and bought me a drink. He was tall with dark hair, different to anyone I’d gone out with before so I was intrigued.

When did you know they were the one?

Everything was just so easy from the start. We naturally clicked and had a lot in common. But for me the biggest thing was how much he made me laugh. I always knew I needed someone with a good sense of humour and doesn’t take life too seriously.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His ability to make me laugh every day, not always with him and a lot of the time at him!

His family values, we both are very close to our families so for me that was so important.

His desire to always try to make me happy.

Who proposed and how?

Matt proposed in London on a rooftop with views of the City, in November 2020. It has been announced that we were going into another Covid lockdown, so 2 days before he managed to bring his initial plan forward and ask me so we had time to see family before going into our engagement lockdown bubble.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Getting married in Ibiza I always knew I wanted something floaty and comfortable. Our venue was going to be full of palm trees and beautiful flowers so when I saw the dress online, I prayed it looked just as good on me as the Pinterest model. After a stressful two days of unsuccessful dress shopping, we finally arrived at the Bridal boutique Halo and Wren in Hertfordshire and after putting it on I knew straight away it was perfect.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

It’s honestly so hard to say but I enjoyed walking down the aisle so much more than I thought. Seeing all my closest family and friends there with us just made my heart full with so much happiness. I also loved our dinner entrance song, which was Angel by Shaggy, and we danced our way round all the tables to our guests standing on chairs and swirling napkins in the air. It was amazing.

What were your favourite details?

The venue itself was just naturally so beautiful so we knew we didn’t need to add too much to it. But the flowers and the table décor made everything come together so perfectly to match all the bridal party colour scheme. Everything just matched so well! A lot of guests commented on the details, apparently we thought of everything. Fans for every guest also helped in a hot country.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff and just enjoy every second. Take time on the day to just look and take everything in because it just goes so quickly.
