Emily + Caleb

How did you meet?

Caleb and l met and started dating in high school. Ten years later we get to start this new chapter as Husband and Wife 🙂

When did you know they were the one?

Soon into dating l could tell Caleb was genuinely a kind, caring and loving man and l felt very lucky to have him.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Caleb is extremely caring, calm and supportive towards myself and everybody. He has a great ability to find the positive in most situations.

Who proposed and how?

We were on a trip in Tasmania. Caleb woke me up for sunrise and we drove up Mount Wellington, unfortunately the clouds came over, it was still lovely but Caleb decided it wasn’t the right moment (I didn’t know that at this point). Later in the day we drove up the coast to camp in Freycinet National Park, Caleb was researching walks to do which l thought was productive of him (normally I’m the planner and he happily goes along), so we decided to go on a short walk to Sleepy Bay. We set up our camera on the rocks (l still didn’t suspect anything). There were mosquitoes around so l was trying to get my jacket out of the backpack but Caleb wouldn’t let me touch the bag, so l waited getting bitten haha. Then he popped out the ring, went on one knee and said will you marry me :), l said yes and instantly forgot about the mosquitoes.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had imagined wearing Tommy for years so when l visited the MWL Sydney Boutique Tommy was at the top of my list, l did love Tommy however it was also when Scottie V2 was just released so l tried it on without knowing much about it. I loved Scottie V2, l felt confident with the shape of the dress and the detailed embroidered lace. It was the perfect shape that l was looking for. l also added buttons to the back of the dress for some extra details.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Seeing Caleb’s reaction at the end of the aisle. For years we were convinced l would be the cryer, so it was so nice to see Caleb emotional and full of happiness.

What were your favourite details?

We got married in the Blue Mountains, we had been dreaming of getting married there for many years so it was very special to us to start our new chapter there.

Caleb and l also built our arbor and timber signs, I loved standing at the arbor we built together. At the start of the ceremony the valley behind us was covered in fog, so the arbor really had it’s moment, then as we said our vows the fog started to lift!

What advice would you tell other brides?

The main thing is that you and your partner are getting married, just stay in the moment together and enjoy the day you have dreamed of. Would highly recommend doing a couple photo shoot just you and your partner on the day.
