Eloise + Maxwell

How did you meet?

We met in 2006 when we were just 15 & 16 years old. We met through a mutual friend who I went to school with & she lived around the corner from Max’s place! They had been mates for a while & often hung out. Max & I had both seen pictures of each other through this mutual friend and already knew there was an attraction there.
One day I was at Jayne’s (the mutual friend’s house) And she had organised to catch up with max. He walked around to her place and the 3 of us hung out. I don’t have a vivid memory of the whole catch up but I do definitely recall a pillow fight between Max & I.

We started talking (texting) after this day & were both very keen on each other. On Australia day long weekend 2007 we were both at Echuca – Max away with his brother & mates, and I was away with my Dad, sister & Dad’s mates. Without having the technology we have today (phones with maps on them) at this time we couldn’t quite work out exactly where each other were staying but I gave a terrible description of where abouts on the river we were & what our campsite looked like & by some miracle Max was able to find me along the river in his boat.
Again not a vivid memory of the whole night – but we did share our first kiss (In the bushes of course) And Max made his first impression on my dad (after he was a few drinks in – so probably not the best impression he could have made) And from that night on we started going out. And we fell in love hard & fast!

Max did break my heart just a year later when he decided that things had gotten too full on for our age & we went our separate ways for a little bit and he moved away to his mum’s house.
Then 1 and a half years later he moved back to Pakenham where he bought his first house and made his way back into my life & we were back together again (I don’t think we really ever got over each other in the time we had apart) & I moved in with him not long after, once I finished school.

When did you know they were the one?

I would say from the time we got back together when we were 17 & 18 and I moved in with Max in his first home. I think we knew it was a forever kind of love from there.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

I love how driven Max is, although it drives me crazy at times & I often feel he just needs to take a breather – it comes from a good place, and he is so determined to set us up to have a comfortable & fulfilling life.
I love his sense of adventure and exploring.
And even though he seems like a hard arse a lot of the time, deep down he truly is a big softie, with a lot of love to give.
I love his honesty & lack of filter – which he often is so unaware of how things come across.

Who proposed and how?

Max proposed after a long 14 year wait from me. (I am a patient gal)
He totally caught me off guard, we were away over new years with our best mate Aaron (Max’s best man in our wedding) We were just exploring – doing what we do, we were at a beautiful gorge!! Max asked if I wanted a photo together which in hindsight is so not like him but I thought nothing of it at the time, and next thing I new he was on his knee with my beautiful ring. I’m not really an emotional person but my god my emotions just came gushing out & the tears did not stop!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I came across my beautiful Harlow on Instagram & it was my number 1 that I wanted to try on when I came in to MWL. It was the first dress I tried on (I did try a total of 27 dresses on in the same day) and I was not expecting to feel as amazing as I did in it.. honestly NO dress made me feel the way the Harlow did. It was just breathtaking, it complimented me so perfectly, so feminine yet sexy & it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I knew it was the one then & there!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Ahhhh, how to pin point 1 best moment!!

We got married at home – we had just finished a 2.5year build of our dream home on our 10acre bush property that we had been working on for over 6 years. Most of our guests hadn’t yet seen our house – So it wasn’t only a celebration of our love but also our achievement of building our dream and to get married at our haven was what we had been dreaming of for a long time.
Dancing with my husband (15years down the track in our relationship) Under the stars at our dream home that we worked so hard on to build ourselves – on our wedding night was a moment I will cherish forever!! It got all the emotions going!

What were your favourite details?

I loved everything about our wedding – Because it was at home & I sourced all the vendors, every little detail was just as I envisaged it!
We wanted a relaxed vibe – which I think we absolutely achieved. Cocktails were a definite favorite!

What advice would you tell other brides?

I would tell other brides to make sure you have someone you trust co-ordinate your night (if you’re not using a venue or have a formal event planner) To be able to let go of all the little details & fully immerse yourself in your day, your new husband/wife, and your guests.
You are probably told this over & over again but the day literally goes so fast – be sure to take some time with each other away from all the distractions – just the two of you to soak it all in together!

Any standout vendors?

I loved ALL my vendors – they were all just amazing at what they did & totally perfect for our day! We tried to use local where able as well – all our food, drinks & cake sourced from our local areas in Gembrook Victoria.
