Elise + Khai

How did you meet?

Khai and I met how many amazing couples do… by swiping right on Tinder late in 2016!

When did you know they were the one?

Both of us acknowledge that there wasn’t a single moment when we knew, we just knew.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Khai is protective. He has a vibrant personality, and he has such a warmth about him.

Who proposed and how?

Khai proposed to me, on a sunrise walk along Caves Beach, on the 10th of July 2020. Although the clouds masked most of glow, we struggled to find the walking track and my alarm interrupted some special moments, it was perfect for us.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with Jordann. Between Sydney’s COVID-19 lockdowns, I booked in a day of wedding dress shopping with my mum, aunty and bridesmaids. MWL in St Ives was our first stop of the day. Jordann was actually the first dress I tried on. Nothing else compared in terms of fit and quality. It was classic! I ended up purchasing it online shortly after.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

I loved every part of our wedding day. It was incredible having our family and friends come together in a town that we hold so dear in our hearts. I loved getting ready with my bridesmaids, walking down the isle, seeing our whole vision come to life, dancing and becoming a WIFE!

What were your favourite details?

Every detail of our wedding day was perfect! I think my favourite details, however, were the ones that were sentimental. It was very important to me that I had elements throughout that reminded me of my nan who had recently passed. I had one of her hankies attached to my bouquet, we had ‘Peaches and Cream’ confetti from The Whole Bride and we had bottles of Tia Maria on my family’s tables. I could feel her presence on that day, the same day that would have been my nan and my pop’s wedding anniversary. We also had pictures of other family and friends in the marquee.

What advice would you tell other brides?

1. Book in all of your main vendors early (venue, photographer etc)
2. Have discussions with your partner about your non-negotiables
3. It’s your day!
2. It sounds very cliché, but the day goes so quick. Take a moment with your partner to stand back and absorb it all.
