How did you meet?

A mutual friend was having a leaving party before going traveling, we met at the party, but didn’t end up getting together until a few months later. Our first date was on his birthday, in a steak house. I was nervous, hot and bothered…then I realised my hair was on fire! It had caught fire on a candle on the bar. He started hitting the side of my hair/face to try and get the fire out. It wasn’t my finest moment. The mutual friend that introduced us was one of my Bridesmaids, and is one of our nearest and dearest.

When did you know they were the one?

Well there was no going back after the fire incident!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

– He makes me laugh like nobody else has ever been able to.
– He cooks me the most amazing food (we love our food!)
– He’s so nice to me, pays me compliments, tells me I look good, even if I don’t feel great. He’s my biggest hype man!

Who proposed and how?

He proposed with a scratch card. We had gone for a night away for my Birthday. We always buy each other scratch cards anyway, so it didn’t seem out of the ordinary, until I saw the words ‘Will you marry me?’ and fell to my knees in a heap!!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

It was the first wedding dress I ever saved on my Instagram (before we got engaged!!…Oh come on ladies, we all do it!)
After getting engaged, I tried on a few, saved around 80 that I liked on my Instagram…but still…I kept going back to that one. I bit the bullet, and drove 2.5hours to my nearest MWL stockist, and felt at home in it straight away!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

It’s so hard to pick a certain moment. I loved walking down the aisle, the buzz was amazing, and a moment I have dreamt of since being a little girl. Then all of a sudden, you’re there, you’re doing it, you’re ACTUALLY walking down the aisle!
The evening party was amazing too. Our band were out of this world, a real ‘mumford’-style folk band, and I never wanted the party to end!

What were your favourite details?

Mostly, I held it together, but, the only time I cried during the day was when I saw my flowers. I couldn’t believe how stunning they were. She was a young, local girl that did flowers as a hobby/side line. I’d sent her Pinterest photos, with a few ideas of what I liked, and I’m quite easily pleased, so I wasn’t worried…but I was absolutely blown away with what she produced.
My Bridesmaid also put together a scrapbook with messages of good luck from all of my friends, and photos of us together. It had taken her months, but it meant so much, and was such a special touch!

What advice would you tell other brides?

1. BREATHE.
2. Don’t rush down the aisle, take it all in.
3. You will NOT get time to see everyone/talk to everyone, so don’t stress about it. Enjoy, and let them come to you.

Any standout vendors?

Again, My Florist. Knocked it out the park!
And my Make Up artist. Not only did she make me feel like a million dollars, and give all the confidence I needed, but throughout the morning, she took photos/videos of us, helped us to get dressed, calmed us all down, and she worked for 7 hours straight without a break. She even waited until I walked down the aisle before leaving.
I’ll be forever grateful to these two wonderful ladies.
