Elaine + Casey

How did you meet?

We got connected through a friend based on our mutual love for golden retrievers, and figured out we lived one street over from each other. We became inseparable after our first date and the rest is history!

When did you know they were the one?

There wasn’t necessarily one specific moment, just how quickly we became best friends and how easy it was to be around each other! We took a trip to Victoria, Canada a couple months after we started dating and I think that’s when we both knew for sure, just being able to travel together and take on new experiences as a team!

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

The way he makes me feel – I’m naturally a pretty shy person and he makes me feel so comfortable and confident.
His goofy dance moves – let’s just say he ripped his suit pants the first five minutes of our dance floor.
His motivation and work ethic – everything he does he gives 110% and he inspires me to be my best!

Who proposed and how?

We were on a trip to Croatia last summer and Casey made the dinner reservations (which should have been a dead give away). We showed up to the restaurant and there was a decorated table setup that overlooked the walls of Dubrovnik. As we walked up he asked, “Do you know what’s happening” and I immediately started crying. We then celebrated with one too many bottles of champagne 🙂

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had an appointment scheduled a few weeks out and saw MWL debut Tilly on Instagram – I knew right when i saw the pictures of the dress on the beach it was the one! It was exactly what I was looking for our beach ceremony. Once I tried it on at the store a few weeks later it was a no-brainer!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Right after our ceremony, walking with Casey from the beach up to cocktail hour. It was just the two of us and one of our only moments alone the entire night. We were so happy in that moment and were able to just take in all the excitement together before the celebrations began.

What were your favourite details?

I loved our colorful, beachy color scheme! We also had a tequila shot wall for the seating chart which all of our guests loved 🙂

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t worry too much about keeping up with what’s trendy or traditional for weddings these days. We opted for bright colored flowers, tropical house ceremony music, and a few other non-traditional details. Make sure every decision you make is what you and your fiancé want, and not for anyone else!

Any standout vendors?

Our planner, Ivette Hernandez, from Amy Abbott Events absolutely crushed it. Neither Casey or I knew exactly what we wanted going into wedding planning, she helped guide us into creating our dream wedding. Also our photographer, @anaandjerome, could not have captured our day more perfectly. All the photos captured the fun, colorful, beachy vibe we were going for.
