Courtney + Benn

How did you meet?

Benn and I met way back in 2012 together with our friends at a summer music festival in Adelaide.

When did you know they were the one?

Our lives grew together quickly, building homes, travelling across AUS far and wide on multiple occasions, overseas holidays, sharing in all the same interests, especially when it comes to our family values and love. It became clear to us that we were in it forever and we both never looked back, almost approaching 10 years together and its been the best years of our life so far, we look forward to our future together.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Benn is a very passionate guy, there’s nothing too hard for him. His work ethic is next to something else and he always strives to help others. His love for us is unconditional and I am so thankful we share together these attributes.

Who proposed and how?

Benn proposed one Friday afternoon, I had arrived home from work December 11th 2020 with a bunch of everlasting flowers that had been delivered. He said to me, someone’s delivered these flowers for you and they would like me to film you opening your card. (Here I am in my work uniform, had definitely caught me off guard which is hard to do) As I opened the card I had a slight inkling as to what was about to unfold.

In the next moment Benn was down on one knee – asking if I would marry him with the beautiful ring we had designed at Andrew Mazzone Jewellery Adelaide.

Benn proposing in our home was just perfect for us – you could say we were nearing the end of the finishing touches to the second home we had built. This one being our future family home so to us it was very special.

Following from the proposal, he had booked us that afternoon at a couple of wineries not far from us In McLaren Vale along with a beautiful dinner.

We loved every moment.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I visited Adelaide Bridal collective March 2021 – knowing I had my eye on MWL dresses and knew they were a stockist. I wanted to be open minded and try on all sorts of styles. I knew I wanted something different, not a dress you would always see and a statement dress, I fell in love with mwlriver. I had my mum, my now mother in law and Bridesmaid with me who were all in tears.

I had a trip booked to visit my brother for my birthday April 2021 and booked myself an appointment at MWL HQ which I am so thankful for it was a beautiful experience.

I tried on 5 or so more dresses, but always went back to river. This particular day was my birthday, I bought the dress there and then and it was the best birthday gift to myself ever.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Walking down the aisle with my dad. This was a moment Ill always cherish, I was so nervous but as soon as we stepped out so everyone could see us it was just the best feeling of love and excitement.

Reading our vows to each other, we wrote our own and they were so meaningful and beautiful to listen to one another,

What were your favourite details?

Everything coming together, when you have a vision of the set up and everything worked it was a lovely feeling.

What advice would you tell other brides?

we got married in the mix of covid so it was stressful at times, I also do get concerned myself and love to have everything organised. Even though its difficult don’t sweat the small things – at the end of the day you get married to your best friend and everything else just sorts out.

Any standout vendors?

Evka weddings – our photographer from the beginning Ev was nothing but helpful, calm and warm. I have had so many lovely comments on our photos, they were exactly what I dreamt of.
