Britney + Hudson

How did you meet?

Hudson and I knew of each other through mutual friends for a while but it wasn’t until a summer cottage weekend that we really hit it off. That fall, we both returned to school at the University of Guelph. I was in my second year and Hudson in his fourth. We quickly became inseparable ended up falling in love!

When did you know they were the one?

It’s hard to say exactly, but life together just always felt so right. Our personalities fit together so well and being together was easy. We’ve always made each other laugh so much and have always felt a strong sense of trust. He was the outgoing one and I was more shy but I always seemed to be comfortable around him and was able to be myself.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Hudson is the funniest guy I know. He makes me laugh every day and I can’t get enough of his humour!

He is also super smart and intelligent. I really appreciate his opinion and thoughts on things especially since I am naturally so indecisive.

Hudson loves his family and would do anything for them. They are all very close and I feel super lucky to be part of such a great family

Who proposed and how?

He proposed on our 8th year anniversary. We spent the day together, went for a walk in the woods, had a good lunch, lounged with our cats, then went for dinner at one of our favourite Italian restaurants. When we got home and walked inside our house was glowing with candles, there were roses and photos of us on the table. I was so surprised! he said the cutest words and asked me to marry him. We Facetimed our families to tell the the good news, popped champagne and had such a fun night.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found my dress (Rosey – pebble and latte) at Ceremony Bridal in Barrie ON Canada during a Made With Love trunk show. My mom actually picked it out for me to try on and if it wasn’t for her I might not have even tried it! It was the second or third dress I tried and after about 14 or so others I kept going back to it. I loved how it was simple but unique and fitting for a backyard wedding. It looks so stunning in photos and I am so happy with my decision!

What advice would you tell other brides?

If you are debating getting a videographer.. DO IT
Doing a first look is so special and I highly recommend
Keep the wedding day small and intimate if you can
Be organized and make sure to let your family know how you want things to go if your not going to have a wedding planner

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

It is so hard to narrow it down. We had a very small backyard wedding with under 40 people and the whole day was so intimate and perfect! One of the best moments was our first look before the ceremony. I met Hudson at the location with our photographer and videographer and it was such a special moment to share before the events of the day. We took our bride and groom portraits at this time so we didn’t have to leave after the ceremony which was really nice. We did sneak away for golden hour photos after dinner which I think was my second favourite moment! At that point we had done all of the things we really needed to worry about and had a few glasses on wine so it was a great moment to take it all in and have some fun together before the party started.
