How did you meet?

My husband and I initially met very briefly at a mutual friend’s birthday party. We didn’t see each other again until a year later when we matched on an online dating app. Our first date went so well that we went on our second date the very next day and our third date the day after that. Two years later, we moved in together. And almost exactly five years to the day of our first date, we tied the knot!

When did you know they were the one?

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

My three favorite attributes of my husband are that he’s affectionate, he makes me laugh, and he is incredibly supportive of my ambitions, interests, and career.

Who proposed and how?

One Saturday in December, I went to brunch with my sister and a few girlfriends. Unbeknownst to me, they were all in on a surprise proposal that my husband had planned. Following brunch, my sister suggested we check out a new bar that had just opened not too far away. After walking a few blocks, however, we turned a corner and Joe was waiting with a ring, a photographer, and several other friends. He popped the question in front of one of my favorite murals downtown. I of course said yes, and we spent the rest of the day celebrating.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I fell in love with my dress at Olivia Bowen Bridal in Melbourne, FL. I had previously been to five other bridal shops and had tried on countless dresses, without finding the right one. After doing some research online, I discovered MWL and tracked down the nearest retailer. As soon as I put on the Louie, I fell in love. It was exactly what I had been looking for – modern, chic, and effortless. It was the only dress I could picture myself getting married in!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

The best moment at our wedding for me was looking out at all of our guests from our sweetheart table as dinner was being served. It was the first time Joe and I got to have a private conversation as an officially married couple. We got to sit down, have a drink, take a breath, and appreciate the fact that all of our friends and family were together in the same place. It was just the beginning of the party. We still had the whole reception ahead of us!

What were your favourite details?

One of my favorite details of the day was our bar sign and wedding koozies which we featured our dog on as a way to include him in our big day. Another detail I really liked was our champagne wall at the entrance of our ceremony, as we wanted our guests to be able to enjoy a glass of bubbly while we exchanged vows.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Make sure to take a moment to really look around at everyone in attendance. Think about how much each person there means to you and the distances they may have traveled to be there for you and your spouse. Your wedding is likely the only time all those people will be in the same room at once. It’s a really special thing.

Any standout vendors?

Our florist (Iza’s Flowers) was amazing. She turned my Pinterest board into a reality. My bouquet was incredible and the touches of pampas grass and palm leaves throughout all of our arrangements really brought together the modern, beachy, boho vibe we were going for.

We also had an amazing musician (Frank Giovetti) play live music throughout our ceremony, cocktail hour, and traditional wedding dances. He was such a joy to work with and is a great performer.
