Ashleigh + Jamie

How did you meet?

We met in a sunbed shop. It was the anniversary or my father passing away. I went to the gym to make myself feel a little better and then thought I’d pop in for a sunbed on my way home. Little did I know I would meet the man of my dreams in the reception area. I believe in fate and I was meant to be there at that time x

When did you know they were the one?

Jamie slid into my DM’s the day we bumped into each other as we knew of each other from living in the same town. He instantly brought a smile to my face when I said hello in the reception area and we had an amazing connection from the off. With my father not being here and me not having any brothers or sisters it was important that someone was able to look after myself and my mother. Jamie just wowed my mum when they met and she worships him every day. Nothing is ever to much for him and we all love him endlessly.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Smile
Charisma
Trust and honesty

Who proposed and how?

Jamie proposed to me. We was meant to be going away to for my 30th birthday and the location was Paris (only recently found this out) and this is where he was going to propose. Due to my 30th being a month after the first ever lockdown Jamie had to change all of his plans and instead decided to get every house in our street involved and bring the community together. He pulled out his paint brush and cut out some card and put his craft skills to the test. I was blind folded and led outside my house. When I took my blindfold off all neighbours were standing outside with signs above them spelling out a sentence.

Ashleigh, due to Covid, Paris wasn’t meant to be (yet), but I want to ask you, will you marry me?’ Jamie was at the end holding the last board with the words ‘me’ on. We were contacted by our local press as it brought the whole community together and lifted everyone’s spirits. That doorstep will be one I’ll remember forever!!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

Halo and Wren in Hemel Hempstead. I originally brought a different dress from a different shop but to dislike it and analyse my body shape etc. I made myself a little ill. I just knew it wasn’t the one but I didn’t know how to break it to my mum as my dad left me some money when he died and he brought my dress. My mum was crying when I told her and I didn’t know what to do. I started looking at other designers and came across MWL. We booked an appointment at our local shop and the girls were absolutely incredible, it was the first dress I tried on, I had a completely different feeling about it and I couldn’t stop crying. I wasn’t even thinking about my old dress. Everything about it was beautiful and PERFECT!!

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Seeing Jamie’s face when I walked down the aisle with my Mother.

What were your favourite details?

Having some us time down on the beach reminiscing about the day so far and sharing our thoughts on our gifts one another gave. Closely followed by dancing the night away with all our loved ones.

What advice would you tell other brides?

When you know you know for sure! Trust your gut and if your dress isn’t right change it! You can sell your old dress but you can’t have the day again!
