Amy + Sam

How did you meet?

We met in 2015 through some mutual friends. I had decided to meet up with some friends after my shift at the hotel I was working at and lucky I did! Sam got my number that night and asked me out on our first date the very next day.

When did you know they were the one?

There have been so many moments over the years but one that stood out was early on in our relationship. We were at our favourite restaurant, eating our favourite food and it all just felt so comfortable and easy and relaxed. I remember thinking that I wanted that feeling forever.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His honesty, his confidence, and the fact that he is a big softy underneath it all.

Who proposed and how?

Sam proposed on the beach out the front of his family home. There was a picnic set-up with little pictures of us hanging up all around it with the most amazing spread of food. Funnily enough when we arrived he couldn’t actually find the location of the picnic so he proposed further down the beach. It was super special because he had repurposed a diamond that belonged to his late mother and used that to create my engagement ring. After that we then went searching for the actual proposal spot which was quite funny.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

This is going to sound cliché but it was the first dress I had tried on and the very first bridal shop I had been too! I tried on lots of dresses after that day but nothing compared. I loved the simplicity and elegance of the Tilly and it fitted perfectly.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

So many!! Our ceremony was so much fun. We wrote ‘ninja vows’ for each other where I wrote vows for Sam and he wrote vows for me. The first time we actually got to read them was when we were reading them out during the ceremony. We had a lot of fun doing it and got a lot of laughs out of our friends and family. Our first dance was also really special, we chose a song that reminded us both of Sams mum so it was an amazing way to include her in the day.

What were your favourite details?

The flowers, our incredible venue and having all of our favourite people in the one room together, nothing can quite beat that!

What advice would you tell other brides?

Try not to stress over the little details as your day will be amazing regardless. It all goes so fast so try to soak up every moment!

Any standout vendors?

Our flowers by Kate Dawes were stunning. Our bouquets were beautiful and she did such an amazing job of setting up the venue with lots of beautiful arrangements. Our celebrant Jacki was also incredible. She made our ceremony so light and fun which was perfect for us.
