Amanda + Jason

How did you meet?

We met while out with some mutual friends, we knew of each other but had never formally met. We had a great fun loving friendship for a while before we started dating.

When did you know they were the one?

One afternoon he asked me to go to New York City on a whim, and I’m a Type A planner…spontaneity isn’t my strong suit but without a second thought I agreed. It was the coldest day in March but we were going out so I left my coat in the car, we had the best time even though it was absolutely freezing. We ended up spending the night and the following morning I just felt like I wanted to wake up to this man every day for the rest of forever.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

Jason is extremely motivated, thoughtful and loving.

Who proposed and how?

Jason proposed last year on our family trip to Jamaica, we were leaving dinner heading to watch a show and he asked if we could go to the boardwalk for a quick photo and then during the last shot he stepped down off the boardwalk and asked.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I stumbled upon the MWL page a few years ago when my friend was getting married. For as long as I can remember I have wanted a dress that I could convert into a cocktail dress and where on my anniversary each year. I had a few dresses saved for a good while but Mila was absolutely for me. I love the shimmery details and sleek fit. The only thing it was missing was a slit which was something I had to have so I had it cut in when I brought it to the seamstress.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

We had a very unique wedding. We got married in our Massachusetts hometown on July 7th privately, then after I had my hair and makeup done we drove to NYC to have our photos taken at our hotel, Central Park & the Brooklyn Bridge. since that’s where we fell in love. After we finished our photos we went to dinner. We celebrated with with friends and family on July 16th to what they believed to be Jason’s 40th Birthday but it was our surprise reception. The best moment was when they pull the retractable wall back and everyone saw us.

What were your favourite details?

I loved that we kept it about us, all the fine details were exactly who we are. Our cake was from our favorite bakery in NYC, that was a big favorite for me.

What advice would you tell other brides?

I would tell all brides to do what feels right to you, not your family or outdoing other weddings just stick to you and your partner.

Any standout vendors?
