Alyssa + Sam
How did you meet?
Sam went to Physician Assistant school in Memphis, TN where I lived for the past 5 years. He was in town studying for boards for a month. I downloaded Hinge (because why not?!) and we matched a few days later. On our first date, Sam took me to trivia and we bonded over dark beer. Sam named our team “fate” by putting “first” and “date” together and it was really fate from there.
When did you know they were the one?
Oddly enough, Sam and I knew by our second date. We never told each other until a few weeks later, but admitted it around the same time. We gravitated to each other so quickly and it felt so easy and so right.
What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?
My three favorite attributes of Sam is his need for adventure, his love for his family, and his silly attitude.
Who proposed and how?
Sam and I planned a little beach trip to Orange Beach, AL during COVID. We figured if we’re gonna be somewhat quarantined, we should probably do it in a beautiful place. I told the girls we should get dressed up for dinner one night and they were all in – even suggesting we take pictures at sunset before our reservation. Sam and I were up to take pictures and the sun hadn’t set yet, but was blaring in my eyes. I figured we were done and I could see everyone with their cameras out and I thought Sam had fallen in the sand. I turned to laugh and instead, he was down on one knee.
Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?
I fell in love at Lillian Ruth Bridal in Knoxville, TN. I swooned over many MWL designs, but nothing compared to Carla!
What was the best moment for you at your wedding?
The best moment of the wedding was definitely our last dance. Our friends play “Mr. Brightside” at every big event and scream it at the top of our lungs and we saved it for last. It was definitely the best night cap for the best night.
What were your favourite details?
Our floral! I could swoon over our florals daily. We didn’t want to send any décor over and wanted florals and the views to be our décor – they didn’t disappoint.
What advice would you tell other brides?
Whatever is going to happen on your wedding day is going to happen so stop, take a deep breathe, and enjoy every little second!
