Allyssa + Sean

How did you meet?

We met the summer before my senior year of high school, back in 2010. He was home from college and decided to throw a back yard party to catch up with local friends – I was a plus one attendee. We didn’t know each other, only through mutual friends did we gradually start to see each other from time to time. It took him a few months to muster up the courage to ask for my phone number, but I am so glad he did.

When did you know they were the one?

Being young loves, we had to learn to grow – not only as a couple, but as individuals as well. School, first jobs and then careers. We were teased a lot by close friends and family, asking when the wedding would be? 12 years is a long time to make them wait. But we knew we were in no rush. We wanted to live the adventure of our 20’s side by side, without the labels and pressures. That’s not to say we weren’t ALWAYS talking and planning our futures together, though. We are each other’s best friends… I think we have always kind of known that this would be forever.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

It such a cliché, but I honestly love how much we make each other laugh. There’s never a shortage of words in our conversations. But on the other hand, we can sit in total silence and feel just at home. I love just being ourselves together – in all its dorky, awkward and hilarious ways.

Who proposed and how?

He proposed back in 2020 with a GORGEOUS ring I had my eyes on for some time. I was never shy when it came to sharing links to styles I liked. And being the amazing man he is, he took note! I had NO idea it was coming – a true surprise! Family video captured it all… he was so nervous, shakily waiting for me to walk through the front door before he got down on one knee. I think I screamed, and then just a blissful blur from there.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I, like most women I think, had been dreaming about wedding dress shopping ever since my pre teens. I knew better then to walk into an appointment with a set style in mind – I wanted to be open to many looks. I found my gown at Ceremony Bridal in Ontario, Canada. I had fallen for the MWL brides, and KNEW I needed an appointment. Ignoring all other dresses in the store, I beelined for the Made With Love rack, and I never turned back. The moment Tilly was on my body, I just felt it. I think the style of beading is what sealed the deal for me. I have been in love with the Little Mermaid ever since I was a little girl. And something about the way it fit, and the textures and designs in the crystal beading just screamed Ariel to me. I was hooked.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

It’s funny now, looking back at how nervous we both were regarding the Ceremony. But it ended up being the most memorable part of the day for the both of us. I don’t think I saw anyone but him, the moment we started walking the aisle. Completely calm and in love.

What were your favourite details?

The details were all in my MWL Wing Veils! Everyone had something to say, about how beautiful and unique it truly was. I was actually against a veil from the start – I didn’t want that traditional look of a veil upon my head. Made With Love veils are one of a kind! Completely original looks to amplify your already unique, and stunning gown.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Try not to second guess yourself. There are just so many amazing dresses to choose from, from the MWL line, that it’s nearly impossible to not fall in love with more than one. And with new looks coming out in what seemed like every week, the task will be tricky. But each dress will have its unique feature. Find the one that screams YOU! And don’t turn back.
