Allie + Dave

How did you meet?

My husband, Dave, and I have actually known each other since we were 5 years old. In 9th grade, we dated briefly and shared our first kiss under his treehouse. Then, we rekindled our relationship in our 20s and have been together ever since.

When did you know they were the one?

I knew he was the one when I was having a tough time away at college. I wasn’t sure if I was at the right school and really struggled with my anxiety. Dave was always there for me and made it known that he’d support me in any decision I was going to make.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

– His kindness
– His adventurous soul
– His patience

Who proposed and how?

Dave proposed to me on a beach in the dead of winter. I love going to the beach in the winter so he suggested we take a walk with our dog there before going to a family party. Turns out the family party was also an engagement celebration!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I found my dress at Vows in Watertown, MA, USA. Myself, and my entourage, knew the second I put it on that it was the dress. The light airy fabric, the appliqué, THE POCKETS. It was everything I wanted and more.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

I have two favorites:
– During our reception, we requested our DJ play The Best of Me by the Starting Line. It is a pop punk song that Dave put on a CD for me when we were 14. We were jumping around the dance floor, singing at the top of our lungs
– At the end of the night, Dave and I jumped in the pool (I changed out of my dress). It was so refreshing and a great way to cap off an awesome day.

What were your favourite details?

So many…

First off, the wedding and reception were at my mom’s house. She lives in a beautiful area of Massachusetts and worked her butt off on the landscaping before the big day. The setting was the perfect garden-y vibe that we were going for.

We had pizza as our dinner and the company came with a pizza oven. It was so delicious.

We also had ice cream from my husband’s family’s ice cream shop, Mad Maggie’s! We got to make our own custom flavor and it was a huge hit.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t stress about the little things. Of course everything didn’t go to plan on our wedding day but it didn’t matter! I let everything fall to the wayside because the only thing that mattered was that I was marrying the love of my life!
