Alison + Luke

How did you meet?

I was visiting my college town and stopped by my old house with some wine to share with my landlord turned friend when Luke walked out of his room, now a tenant there. I offered him a glass of wine, we got to talking and next thing I know I’m moving across the state to be with him (after lots of back and forth visits) and the rest, of course, is history!

When did you know they were the one?

He will tell you it’s when he caught me singing in the shower to myself and making up half the words as I went along. For me, it was 4 months into dating we were hanging out in my room listening to my favorite song. I felt more safe and content then ever before and couldn’t hold it in any longer so I said “I love you” first and luckily he felt it too.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His patience
His dedication to things/people he cares most about
His willingness to try anything, he’s a yes man!

Who proposed and how?

He popped the question in Maui, Hawaii in front of our best friends. We had moved there during the pandemic for his job and we were 4 months in so it was such a surprise. I always thought I would see it coming so it was the ultimate shock in the best way!

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

I had been following MWL before getting engaged because the dresses were so beautiful and when I found the Carli online I searched all over for it, almost flying out of state, but I finally found the one and loved the sleek, elegant look of the crepe with the lace bodice on top for something fun and unique. Nothing else I tried on felt quite like “me” until this dress.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

I loved everything about this day, but our first look was so special and emotional. Seeing my now husband cry his eyes out when he saw me really sent me since he rarely cries! It was such a beautiful moment we could share just between the two of us and loosened us up for the nuptials to come.

What were your favourite details?

Everything looked more beautiful than I could’ve imagined, I loved the back of my dress and and how perfect it paired with my extended cathedral veil along with the ‘something blue’ on the bottom of my shoes. Most of all, just seeing the smiling faces of everyone I love in one place.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t spend too much time, energy (or money) on the little things, just get them done and move on because they aren’t going to matter to you day of. Remember why you are doing this and focus on what’s important because it’s easy to get lost in the planning process and that will keep you from over-stressing. Finally, stay present all day and make sure to schedule in some alone time for you and your bride or groom.

Any standout vendors?

All our vendors did an incredible job, but my beautifying team was beyond amazing. ashleysinnhair@ and sierra_garman@ worked their magic on our hair and makeup by julianasullengerartistery@ was absolutely stunning. And to Aurora at Olivefernphotography for capturing it all!
