Alicia + Spencer

How did you meet?

We met at work, we were for a logistics company in Chicago. It was the headquarter location so over 2,000+ people worked in our building. We somehow were selected into the same department that was the smallest of about 15 people. We became instant best friends which was a great way to then build our romantic relationship.

When did you know they were the one?

Very early on! We were best friends for about 6 months prior to us being in a relationship. Within the first month of being together, we were already living with each other. It has always been so easy, and that is what I tell all my friends who are looking for the one. The relationship should be fun & easy.

What are your three favourite attributes of your partner?

His ability to keep me centered & grounded, his kindness, & his sense of adventure.

Who proposed and how?

Spencer proposed to me the day before my birthday, and it was the most perfect autumn day. The first time I visited Spencer’s home state in 2018, we hiked Bradbury Hill in Freeport, Maine. Almost two years to the date we first hiked the mountain is when he got down on one knee. We hiked up the mountain and there could not be anymore people up there. When we have hiked the mountain before, it was a ghost town. Not this day! There was a crowd of people cheering and clapping once they saw what was happening. I blacked out and ugly cried (yes we have professional photos of that). Spencer planned the most picture perfect proposal.

Where did you fall in love with your dress and why?

The Archie has been my dream dressed for a few years now. I had it saved on my Instagram and Pinterest accounts, and I always kept going back to it. I found a bridal shop that carries MWL dresses and I told my dress assistant that the Archie is my dream dress and I have to try it on first. The second I put on the dress I knew it was the one. It is a timeless dress, and the way it hugged my body so elegantly, I knew I had to have it.

What was the best moment for you at your wedding?

Seeing my husband for the first time down the aisle. I had tunnel vision and all I can see is his face and we are both beaming from ear to ear. I was shedding tears but I could not stop smiling. Both of my parents walked me down the aisle and it was just an unbelievable moment.

What were your favourite details?

One of my favorite details was my veil. It had small iridescent pearls that you can only see up close. My veil went past the train of my dress and just looked so beautiful. My flowers, I could not get over how unique and gorgeous my flowers were. I gave full creativity to my florist and she really out did herself.

What advice would you tell other brides?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Give time to yourself to be present in the moment. Enjoy all the people who came to celebrate your beautiful day. No matter what happens, the day will be perfect.

What advice would you tell other brides?

YES! My entire vendor team was beyond amazing. My amazing photographer, Haley Hallee, has been on a journey with us for the last year. She captured our day so perfectly. Our DJ/Musician, Adam Ouellette, he sang on the piano for our ceremony and then during cocktail hour he sang on the guitar. During the reception he played recorded songs, it was the perfect mix for the day! So many guests gave him and us so many compliments. One of our guests exchanged contact information with him so he can play at their wedding!
